In a heartwarming turn of events, Coles Miller Solicitors recently facilitated a dream come true for Charlie, who suffered from cerebral palsy due to a birth injury. Spearheaded by Adrian Cormack, Head of Personal Injury, the firm played a pivotal role in securing a settlement that not only addressed Charlie's needs but also granted him an experience he had longed for since childhood – a trip to Disneyland Paris.
The journey towards realising Charlie's dream began with Coles Miller setting up a Deputyship for him back in 2017. Acting jointly alongside Charlie's mother, this legal arrangement empowered them to navigate critical decisions regarding his welfare and finances.
For Charlie, Disneyland Paris wasn't just a holiday; it symbolised the possibility of joy and adventure despite life's challenges. Thanks to the diligent efforts of Coles Miller, the funds from Charlie's settlement, along with investments managed through the Deputyship, made this dream a reality.
Accompanied by his loving family, including his mother and her husband who serve as his full-time caregivers, Charlie embarked on a magical journey.
A Deputyship Order is a legal document which enables elected representatives to make important financial and welfare decisions on behalf of a person who has lost the capacity to handle their own affairs, ensuring their best interests are upheld. In Charlie's case, it served as a lifeline, granting him opportunities and experiences that might have otherwise been out of reach.
