Relationship breakdown can be stressful

Knowing where you stand legally is a key concern when it comes to dissolution or divorce. At Coles Miller we make sure the process is as quick and as stress-free as possible by talking you through the process and ensuring that you understand each step.  We have experience of this legal process for those in same sex relationships and have a specialist in this area of law dedicated to getting you the best possible outcome.

Dissolution vs Divorce

In the eyes of the law these are the same and the process works in the same way.

To apply for a dissolution or divorce you must have been married or in a civil partnership for at least a year and be able to establish that the relationship has broken down irretrievably.

Since the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 came into force on Wednesday 6 April 2022 the UK now operates on a ‘no-fault’ divorce system. There is no longer any need to establish any reason as to why you wish to obtain a divorce, you simply have to state that the marriage has broke down irretrievably.
